Packing Services in Nairobi: Packed Right, Unpacked Fast

KejaPal offers packing services in Nairobi for homes and offices that want every item wrapped, boxed and labelled by people who do it every day. We bring the boxes and materials, pack room by room and, if you like, unpack everything at the new place too.

  • All boxes, paper, bubble wrap and tape included
  • Fragile items wrapped one by one
  • Room labels and contents lists on every box
Packing services in Nairobi: a packer wrapping plates in paper before placing them in a box

Packing takes far longer than most people expect. A typical two-bedroom home holds 40 to 70 boxes of things, and the kitchen alone can take a full day. Meanwhile, work, school runs and paperwork do not stop. So many families and offices hand the packing to us and spend that time on everything else.

Good packing also prevents damage. Most broken items we see in moves were packed loosely, in weak boxes or with heavy things on top. This page explains how we pack, what it costs and how to choose the right level of help.

Packing

What our packing services in Nairobi include

A full packing service covers every room in your home or office. In practice, that means:

  • Materials. Strong double-wall boxes, wardrobe boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, stretch film and tape.
  • Kitchen. Plates on edge, glasses with dividers, pots nested, and food items sealed and boxed.
  • Bedrooms. Clothes in wardrobe boxes or folded in labelled boxes, with bedding in large bags.
  • Living room. Books, ornaments, pictures and electronics packed by type, with cables bagged and labelled.
  • Fragile items. Glass, ceramics, mirrors and artwork wrapped one by one, with corner guards and crates where needed.
  • Labelling. Every box shows the room, a short contents list and "fragile" or "this way up" where needed.

We pack the day before moving day for larger homes, or early on moving day for smaller ones. Either way, the same crew then loads the truck, so nothing gets lost between teams.

Choosing the right level of packing help

Not everyone needs a full service. So we offer three levels, and you can mix them room by room.

Packing

How professional packers in Nairobi pack a kitchen

The kitchen is the hardest room to pack, because it holds the most breakable items in the smallest space. Therefore we follow a strict method:

  1. Base layer. First, we line each box with crushed paper to absorb shocks from below.
  2. Heavy items low. Next, pots, pans and heavy dishes go at the bottom.
  3. Plates on edge. Plates are wrapped one by one and stand on their edges like files, because they resist pressure better that way.
  4. Glasses in dividers. Glasses and cups go into cell dividers or are wrapped and packed upright.
  5. Top layer. After that, more crushed paper fills every gap, so nothing moves when the box is shaken.
  6. Seal and label. Finally, we tape the box on top and bottom and write the room and "fragile" on two sides.

Packing electronics and appliances

TVs, computers and sound systems are easy to damage and expensive to replace. So we pack them with extra care. Flat-screen TVs travel upright in padded TV boxes or wrapped in blankets and film. Computers travel in their original boxes where possible, or in padded boxes marked "this way up". In addition, we photograph cable connections before unplugging, then bag and label the cables for each device.

Fridges and freezers must be empty, defrosted and dry before packing. We tape the doors closed, wrap the units in blankets and move them upright. At the new home, leave them standing for a few hours before switching them on.

Packing wardrobes, clothes and bedding

Clothes are light but bulky, so they fill a lot of boxes. To save time and keep clothes neat, we use wardrobe boxes with a hanging rail for suits, dresses and shirts. Folded clothes go into medium boxes, labelled by person and room. Bedding, pillows and towels go into large bags, which also make good padding inside the truck.

Shoes go in their own boxes, with heavy shoes at the bottom. Meanwhile, jewellery, watches and small valuables should stay with you rather than in a box.

Unpacking at the new home

Unpacking is the part most people put off for months. As a result, boxes sit in corners long after the move. Our unpacking service solves that. The crew empties boxes, places items in cupboards and drawers in a sensible order, and takes away all the empty boxes and paper on the same day.

You can choose full unpacking or unpacking for key rooms only, such as the kitchen and bedrooms. Many families find that a ready kitchen on the first evening makes the new house feel like home straight away.

How packing services in Nairobi are priced

Packing is usually priced together with the move, after we see how many rooms and fragile items you have. Unpacking can be added to the same quote. For how a full move is priced, see our moving cost guide.

Storage

Storage when the new place is not ready

Sometimes the old lease ends before the new home is ready. In that case, packed boxes and furniture can go into our secure storage for days, weeks or months. Because everything is already packed and labelled, delivery and unpacking later are quick.

Packing

What not to pack in boxes

Some items should not go in the truck at all. For your safety and ours, please keep these out of boxes:

  • Cash, jewellery, passports, title deeds and other key documents.
  • Medicines you need in the next few days.
  • Flammable items such as petrol, paraffin, paint thinner and aerosol cans.
  • Open food, liquids that can leak and anything that can spoil.
  • Pets and plants that cannot survive a closed truck.

The National Environment Management Authority website has guidance on disposing of chemicals and paints safely if you are clearing them out before the move.

Packing offices and business records

Our packing services in Nairobi also cover offices, clinics and shops. Office packing follows a desk-by-desk system, with crates labelled by floor and desk number. Files go into archive boxes in the same order as the shelves, so staff can find them again on the first morning. Sensitive records go into sealed boxes with a sign-off sheet.

Eco-friendly packing

We reuse strong boxes and plastic crates whenever they are in good condition. After the move, we collect empty boxes and paper, then reuse or recycle them. If you prefer less plastic, ask for paper padding and blankets instead of bubble wrap where it is safe to do so.

Why choose our packing services in Nairobi

Our packers do this every day, so they work fast without being careless. They know which items break, which boxes fail and how to label so unpacking is easy. Also, the same crew packs, loads and unloads, so one team is responsible for your things from start to finish. Families tell us that professional packers in Nairobi saved them days of work and a lot of stress.

How we agree the price of packing services in Nairobi

Every quote for packing services in Nairobi is prepared after we have assessed the job. For example, stairs, heavy items, packing and distance all change the work involved. Therefore we look first, quote second and agree the price with you third. Moreover, if you want to reduce the cost, we suggest practical options, such as packing some boxes yourself or choosing a quieter date. In short, you stay in control of the scope and the cost.
