Commercial Movers in Kenya for Shops, Stores and Warehouses

KejaPal are commercial movers in Kenya who move shops, stores, warehouses and workshops between closing time and opening time. We pack stock in order, move shelving and display units, and set up the new premises so you can trade again quickly.

  • Night and weekend moves to protect trading days
  • Stock packed and counted by section
  • Shelving, counters and racks taken down and rebuilt

For a business that sells stock, every closed day means lost sales. That is why experienced commercial movers in Kenya plan almost every shop move around trading hours. Customers who find the shutters down may not come back. So a shop or warehouse move must be fast, organised and timed around trading hours.

We plan commercial moves the way a store manager thinks: in sections, with counts, and with the till ready to open the next morning. This page explains how we do it, from the first survey to the morning the doors open again at your new address.

What our commercial movers in Kenya move

Commercial premises hold a wide mix of items. A typical job includes some or all of these:

  • Stock. Boxed goods, loose items, clothing on rails, electronics and fragile products.
  • Shelving and racking. Gondola shelves, wall shelves, pallet racks and storage cages.
  • Counters and displays. Tills, glass counters, display cabinets, mannequins and signage.
  • Back office. Desks, safes, files and computers. See our office moving page for more.

Shop moves without losing trading days

Most shop moves happen overnight or across a Sunday. For example, a typical plan looks like this. The shop closes at 6 pm on Saturday. The crew starts packing at 6:30 pm, section by section. Trucks run through the night or on Sunday. By Monday morning, shelves stand in the new shop and stock sits in the right sections.

To make that work, we survey both premises in advance and agree a layout plan. Each shelf, rail and display gets a label that matches a spot on the new floor plan. As a result, the crew does not need to guess where anything goes.

Packing

Packing stock by section

Stock is your money, so we treat it carefully and keep it in order.

  1. Count. First, your team counts or scans stock in each section, so you have a record before the move.
  2. Pack. Next, our crew packs each section into numbered boxes or crates, with fragile items wrapped individually.
  3. Seal. Boxes are sealed and listed on a sheet with the section name and box numbers.
  4. Move. The crew loads sections in order, so the first section out is the first section in.
  5. Unpack. At the new shop, boxes go straight to their section, and your team checks them against the sheet.

High-value items such as phones, jewellery or spirits can travel in a separate locked crate, with one of your staff in the truck.

Warehouse and store moves

Warehouses bring heavier loads and larger volumes. Pallet racking must come down safely and go back up straight and secure. Pallets need forklifts or pallet jacks at both ends. In addition, stock often needs to move in a set order so dispatch can continue during the move.

For warehouse moves, we usually plan in phases. Slow-moving stock goes first. Fast-moving stock goes last, often over a weekend, so orders keep flowing. We work with your warehouse manager on the order, the loading bays and any forklift support you can provide.

Workshops, salons and small factories

These moves often include heavy or delicate equipment such as sewing machines, printers, salon chairs, workbenches and small machines.

We move the equipment, but qualified technicians should disconnect and reconnect anything wired into power, gas or water. If a machine is very heavy, our heavy item team plans the lift with straps, rollers and a crane truck where needed.

How commercial moves are priced

Shop and warehouse moves are priced after a survey. The main costs are the volume of stock, the amount of shelving, the distance, the number of nights or days and any special equipment.

Moves between towns, such as from Nairobi to Nakuru or Mombasa, cost more because of fuel and travel time. See our long-distance moves for details.

Permits, signage and the new premises

Before you move, check that your business permit and any sector licences cover the new address. Many counties need you to update or apply for a new permit when you change premises. The Business Registration Service handles company details, while your county issues the single business permit.

Also plan your signage. Old signs may need removal, and new signs often need county approval. We can take down old shelving and signs at the old premises, and help clear the space so you get your deposit back.

Commercial moving across Kenya

Many businesses grow by opening a branch in another town, or by moving stock between branches. Our commercial moving service in Kenya covers those trips too. For example, we move stock and shelving from Nairobi to new branches in Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and Mombasa, and set up the shop on arrival.

We also run regular stock transfers between branches for retailers who need a reliable truck and crew rather than a courier. That keeps stock safe and counted, with the same crew handling it at both ends. You also get a signed delivery note for every transfer, which helps your stock records.

Storage between premises

Sometimes the old lease ends before the new shop is ready. In that case, we can move your stock and fittings into secure storage for a few days or weeks, then deliver to the new premises when the fit-out is complete. Each section stays boxed and labelled, so setting up is still quick.

Meeting rooms

Fridges, freezers and cold rooms

Supermarkets, butcheries, cafes and pharmacies often run several fridges and freezers. These units are heavy, awkward and sensitive to tipping. So we move them upright, strapped to the truck wall, with padding on every side.

Plan your chilled stock carefully. Sell down perishables in the last days, move them to a partner's cold room, or hire a cold-chain van for the day. At the new shop, let each unit stand for a few hours before switching it on, then wait until it reaches temperature before restocking. Our commercial movers in Kenya will build that waiting time into the plan.

Protection

Protecting stock value during the move

Stock moves are about value as well as volume. Therefore we agree a few simple controls before the first box is packed:

  • Your team counts stock before packing and after unpacking.
  • Box numbers and sections go on a shared sheet that both sides sign.
  • Trucks stay locked when parked, and a crew member stays with each load.
  • High-value stock travels in locked crates, ideally with one of your staff.

For extra peace of mind, ask your insurer about goods-in-transit cover for the move. Many business policies can add it for a single date at a modest cost.

Why businesses choose our commercial movers

Business owners tell us they want three things: no lost trading days, no lost stock and a clear price. Our commercial movers in Kenya plan every job around those three points. You get a written plan, one crew lead and a team that works while your shop is closed. On the first morning, the crew lead also checks in to fix any last details.

How pricing works for commercial movers in Kenya

We do not publish fixed prices for commercial movers in Kenya, because every job is different. Instead, we assess what you are moving, access at both ends and your date, then send a written quote. After that, we discuss it with you and agree the final price before the day. As a result, the price you agree for commercial movers in Kenya is based on your real move, and it only changes if the job changes. In addition, you can ask us to adjust the scope at any point before the day.

Frequently asked questions

Can you move my shop overnight?

Yes. Most shop moves happen overnight or on a Sunday, so you can close one evening and open the next morning at the new premises.

Do you move pallet racking?

Yes. We take down pallet racking, move it and rebuild it at the new warehouse. For tall or heavy racking, we agree the method and safety steps with your warehouse manager first.

How do you keep stock in order?

We pack stock section by section into numbered boxes, list each box on a sheet and unpack each section at its matching spot in the new shop.

Can you move stock between branches in different towns?

Yes. We move stock, shelving and equipment between branches across Kenya, including regular stock transfers for retailers.

Do you move freezers and fridges full of stock?

We move fridges and freezers empty. Plan to sell down or transfer chilled stock before the move, then restock once the units are set up and cold again.
